Understanding Your Scores
A complete guide to reading your GenReady AI Readiness report — what each score means and how to prioritise improvements.
How scoring works
Your GenReady report analyses your page across multiple dimensions and produces scores at three levels: individual metrics, two main categories, and an overall AI Readiness score.
Overall AI Readiness score (0-100)
Your overall score is a 50/50 blend of your Content score and your Crawlability score:
AI Readiness = 50% Content + 50% Crawlability
| Score range | Rating | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| 85-100 | Pass | Your page is well-optimized for AI crawlers and answer engines |
| 50-84 | Warn | Solid foundation with room for improvement in specific areas |
| 0-49 | Fail | Significant issues preventing AI from accessing or understanding your content |
Content score
The Content score evaluates the quality and structure of your page content. It is made up of five weighted categories:
| Category | Weight | What it measures |
|---|---|---|
| Density | 35% | How information-rich your content is (entity density, claim density, filler words) |
| Factuality | 25% | Use of citations and topical consistency (outbound links, semantic cohesion) |
| Structure | 20% | How well your content is organized (heading hierarchy, tables/lists, schema markup) |
| Freshness | 10% | How recently your content was published or updated (excluded for homepages, product pages, landing pages, FAQ pages, and other non-article page types — weight redistributes to remaining categories) |
| Originality | 10% | How unique and non-generic your content is |
Crawlability score (0-100)
The Crawlability score measures whether AI bots can actually reach and read your content. It checks things like HTTPS, robots.txt, response speed, sitemap, JavaScript rendering, and more.
Some issues act as hard caps on your Crawlability score. For example, if your robots.txt blocks all AI crawlers, your Crawlability score cannot go above 10 regardless of other factors.
| Score range | What it means |
|---|---|
| 85-100 | Excellent crawlability - your site is well-optimized for AI agents |
| 60-84 | Good crawlability with room for improvement |
| 30-59 | Significant issues - AI agents may have difficulty accessing your content |
| 0-29 | Critical failures - AI agents are likely blocked from your content |
Individual metrics (0-10)
Each category contains specific metrics scored on a 0-10 scale. These are shown with a status label:
| Score | Status | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| 8-10 | Pass | This area is in good shape |
| 4-7 | Average | There is room for improvement |
| 0-3 | Fail | This area needs attention |
How to read your report
- Start with the overall score - get the big picture
- Check Content and Crawlability - identify which half is pulling your score down
- Look at failing metrics (red) - these are your highest-impact improvement opportunities
- Read the recommendations - each metric includes specific advice on how to improve
- Prioritize Crawlability first - if AI bots cannot reach your content, nothing else matters
Score calculations
Scores are calculated by analysing the actual content of your page - not estimated or approximated. GenReady fetches your page the same way an AI crawler would, extracts the content, and runs each metric against the extracted text and HTML.
This means your score reflects exactly what AI crawlers see, not what human visitors see in a browser. If your content is JavaScript-rendered and invisible to crawlers, your score will reflect that reality.
💡 Focus on impact
Don't try to fix everything at once. Improving your three lowest-scoring metrics will have the biggest impact on your overall score. Click on any metric in your report to read its detailed help article with specific improvement steps.
