Adding and Verifying Your Domain
Prove you own a site with a DNS record, a meta tag or a file, then run site-wide analyses and track its score over time.
Why verify a domain
Anyone can scan a single page. Adding and verifying a domain unlocks the features that work across a whole site: site-wide analyses that crawl many pages at once, a score history for the domain, and grouped issues that show which problems repeat across pages. Verification proves the site is yours before we crawl it on your behalf.
Monitored domains are part of the paid plans. The number you can add depends on your plan; see the pricing page for current limits.
Add the domain
- Open Your sites and add the domain, for example
example.com. - Pick a verification method. Each gives you a token that is unique to your account.
- Put the token in place, then click Verify now.
The three verification methods

If verification fails
The message "Could not verify. Double-check placement and try again." means we looked and did not find the exact token. The usual causes:
- DNS has not propagated yet. New TXT records can take from a few minutes to a few hours to become visible. Wait, then try again.
- The meta tag was added to a page other than the homepage, or it is injected by JavaScript after the page loads. We read the HTML your server sends, so the tag has to be in it.
- The file has extra content, such as an HTML wrapper added by a CMS, or it sits at a different path. It must contain the token and nothing else, and be served over HTTPS.
- A firewall or bot-protection rule blocks our request. Allow it for the verification path, or use the DNS method, which does not touch your web server.
Leave the record, tag or file in place after verifying. We recheck ownership from time to time.
After verification
Click Analyze a full site on the domain's dashboard to crawl it. Your plan sets how many pages one analysis can cover. The dashboard then shows the site's score, which issues affect the most pages, and how the score moves between analyses.
💡 Quick win
If you can reach your DNS settings, use the TXT record. It survives theme changes and redeploys that silently drop a meta tag or a file.
