Semantic Cohesion: Does Your Content Deliver on Its Title?
How well your body content aligns with what your title and headings promise.
What it measures
Semantic Cohesion measures the alignment between your page title/headings and the actual body content. It uses vector similarity to check whether the content delivers on what the title promises.
Why it matters for AI
AI uses this alignment to determine whether it can confidently cite your page for a specific topic. If your title says "10 Tips for Better SEO" but the content wanders into unrelated areas, AI loses confidence. High cohesion means the AI can match your page to user queries with certainty.
| Score | Rating | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| < 4/10 | Low | Content drifts significantly from the title's promise |
| 4–8/10 | Average | Mostly on-topic with some tangential sections |
| ≥ 8/10 | Good | Excellent title-to-content alignment |
How to improve
- Ensure every section relates to the main topic — If a paragraph doesn't support the title's promise, cut it or move it to a different page
- Make your title accurately reflect the article's scope — Don't promise "Ultimate Guide" and deliver a thin overview
- Remove tangential content — Side topics dilute cohesion even if they're interesting
💡 Quick win
Read your title, then read each section heading. If any heading feels off-topic, either refocus it or remove it.
